For a tax return, a year-end review, a loan application or your bookkeeping, you often need a whole year of transactions in one sheet. Your bank gives you twelve monthly PDFs. Copying them one by one into the same spreadsheet takes hours and almost always produces a missing or doubled line somewhere.
What a good combined sheet looks like
- One row per transaction, oldest first, with the same columns all the way down: Date, Description, Money in, Money out, Balance.
- A File or Statement column, so you can trace any row back to its PDF.
- No duplicates where statements overlap (some banks repeat the last days of a month on the next statement).
- No gaps: each statement starts with the closing balance of the one before.
The quick way
- Download all the monthly PDFs from your bank into one folder.
- Select them all and drop them on StatementEasy at once.
- Each statement gets its own tab with its own balance check. Fix anything highlighted.
- Click All files combined: one table with a File column. Transactions that appear on two overlapping statements are found and left out of the combined sheet, and the converter checks that each statement follows on from the previous one.
- Download Excel. The file also has a Monthly sheet with money in and out per month.
Statements from different accounts can be combined too; the File column keeps them apart, and you can filter by it.
Doing it by hand in Excel
If you already have one sheet per month:
- Make sure every sheet has the same columns in the same order.
- Add a column with the month or file name on each sheet.
- Copy the rows of each sheet under each other on a new sheet (or use Data → Get Data → Combine in Excel 365 for a folder of files).
- Sort by date.
- Check for gaps: the first balance of each month should equal the last balance of the month before plus the first transaction.
- Check for duplicates with
=COUNTIFS(A:A,A2,B:B,B2,C:C,C2,D:D,D2)>1— but look before deleting: two identical payments on the same day can both be real.
Common questions
How many statements can I combine?
There is no fixed limit. A year of monthly statements is quick; very long scanned statements take longer to read.
What about a statement that covers several months in one PDF?
It is read as one list. You can combine it with other PDFs in the same way.
One month is missing. Will I notice?
Yes: the balances no longer follow on between two statements, and StatementEasy says so.
