BCP statement to Excel

A Banco de Crédito del Perú statement prints the processing and value dates as 05MAR — day and month run together, no year — then DESCRIPCIÓN, CARGOS / DEBE, ABONOS / HABER and SALDO.

Dates like 05MAR

BCP writes day and month together in capitals. Spanish months (ENE, FEB, MAR, ABR…) are recognised and the year comes from the period, so a December–January statement gets the right year on every row.

A line, explained

05MAR 06MAR YAPE A JUAN PEREZ 45.00 1,912.30 becomes date 2025-03-05, value date 2025-03-06, money out 45.00 and balance 1912.30 — checked against the line before.

Yape and bill payments

Yape transfers, bank transfers, utility payments and ATM withdrawals keep their full description, so you can filter and total them; the Recurring sheet lists monthly payments.

What your BCP spreadsheet contains

Each row is one transaction: the date as a real date, the full description, money in and money out as numbers in separate columns, and the balance. The value date has its own column next to the processing date. A first tab summarises the period, the opening and closing balance, the totals and the result of the check; the Monthly, Categories and Recurring sheets come in the same download.

For SUNAT, a loan or renting

Convert the year for your tax return, or three to six months for a loan or a lease: the Monthly sheet and Insights summarise income and spending.

Savings, payroll and current accounts

BCP savings, payroll (cuenta sueldo) and current accounts print the same columns and are read the same way. Convert several and choose “All files combined”: each row names its source file.

About BCP and its statements

Banco de Crédito del Perú is the country’s largest bank and part of Credicorp; it also created Yape, the transfer app most Peruvians use. That is why a BCP statement is often a long run of small Yape lines between salary credits and bill payments — exactly the kind of statement that is painful to total by hand.

A typical month on a BCP statement

Salary credited at the end of the month, a dozen Yapes to friends and shops, Luz del Sur and Sedapal bills, a phone plan, two cash withdrawals and supermarket purchases at Plaza Vea or Tottus. In the sheet, filtering by “YAPE” gives the month’s transfers in one total.
