Absa Bank Ghana was Barclays Bank of Ghana for most of a century and took the Absa name in 2020, when the Barclays group sold its African operations. Its statement shows Date, Transaction Description, Amount and Balance, with money out written as a negative amount.
StatementEasy splits that single Amount column into money out and money in, starts from the balance brought forward and checks every balance. Older statements printed under the Barclays name read the same way.

Absa Ghana columns in your sheet
| On the statement | In your sheet |
|---|---|
| Date | Date |

| Amount −250.00 | Money out 250.00 |
| Amount 3,000.00 | Money in 3,000.00 |
| Balance | Balance, checked |
One amount column, two in your sheet
A single signed column is compact on paper but awkward in Excel: SUM gives you the net change, not what came in and what went out. Your download has separate Money out and Money in columns, or you can switch back to one signed column under Table settings if your accounting tool prefers it.
Either way, the running balance is checked against every line.
Barclays-era statements
If you are gathering statements going back several years, for a mortgage or a tax query, the older ones carry the Barclays Bank of Ghana name. They are recognised and converted the same way, so a five-year history fits in one sheet.
An example line
On the PDF: 21/03/2025 TRANSFER TO KOFI MENSAH -1,500.00 6,240.80. In your sheet: date 21/03/2025, money out 1,500.00, balance 6,240.80.
Rent paid a year in advance
Landlords in Ghana often ask for one or two years of rent upfront. If you are saving for it, the Monthly sheet shows how much you set aside each month, and a combined sheet across several months shows when you will reach the target.
