Standard Chartered traces its Ghanaian roots to 1896, which makes it the oldest bank in the country. Its statement lists Date, Description, Deposit, Withdrawal and Balance, and unlike most banks it prints the money-in column before the money-out column.

StatementEasy reads each column by its header, not its position, so deposits land in Money in and withdrawals in Money out, and every balance is checked.

Deposit before withdrawal

Most Ghanaian banks print Debit then Credit. Standard Chartered does the opposite, which is exactly where tools that guess by position go wrong and swap your income with your spending. Here the headers decide, and the balance check would flag any row that was read the wrong way round.

In your sheet the order is the usual one: Money out, then Money in, unless you choose otherwise.

Priority and multi-currency customers

Many Standard Chartered customers hold cedi and dollar accounts side by side. Convert each statement on its own; the converter keeps the currency of each file and checks each balance within it.

An example line

On the PDF: 12 Mar 2025 SALARY ACME GHANA LTD 14,500.00 27,885.60. In your sheet: date 12/03/2025, money in 14,500.00, balance 27,885.60.

Monthly statements for a whole year

If your statements arrive one month at a time, drop all twelve together. “All files combined” gives one sheet, and each Balance Brought Forward is checked against the closing balance of the month before.

Questions

Why does the order of the columns matter?

Because guessing by position swaps money in and money out on this statement; reading by header does not.

Does it read Standard Chartered statements from other countries?

Yes, the Singapore, UAE and other layouts are recognised.

Can I convert a credit card statement?

If it shows dated transactions with amounts, yes.

Is my statement uploaded?

Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server, and deleted right after.

Is StatementEasy made by Standard Chartered Ghana?

No. StatementEasy is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC.
