Lodgements, in plain words
A lodgement is any money paid into the account: a cash deposit at the counter, a cheque, a transfer or a remittance. In your sheet they all land in the Money in column, so a single SUM tells you what came in during the month.
If you want to separate cash deposits from transfers, sort by description; each line keeps the wording the bank printed.
Money from relatives abroad
Remittances from the UK, the US or elsewhere usually arrive with the sender’s name or the transfer company in the details. Filter for it and the Monthly sheet shows how much arrived each month and how much of it was spent.
An example line
On the PDF: 03 Mar 2025 03 Mar 2025 SCHOOL FEES 2,800.00 11,360.25. In your sheet: date 03/03/2025, money out 2,800.00, balance 11,360.25.
School fees through the term
