How first direct statements are read
Layout: Date | Details | Paid out | Paid in | Balance, in the HSBC style, the date printed once per day.
- Paid out and Paid in are read as money out and money in; the balance checks every row.
- Brought forward and carried forward lines are not counted as transactions.
- An overdrawn balance marked D is read as a negative balance.
- Dates are read as day/month (for example 31/01); you can export them in any format.

Questions
Does StatementEasy work with first direct statements?
Yes. The real first direct statement layout was tested: every transaction was found and the result matched the balances printed on the statement.
Is my first direct statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server, and deleted after reading. A statement we cannot read yet is kept encrypted for up to 14 days so we can add support for it.
Can I convert a whole year of statements?
Yes. Drop all the monthly PDFs at once and use “All files combined” to get one sheet with a File column.
Is StatementEasy made by first direct?
No. StatementEasy is an independent tool and is not affiliated with first direct (a division of HSBC UK Bank plc).
