A Lloyds statement has a Type column with short codes like DD, FPO or BGC, the payee printed above the date line and the reference below it. Lloyds PDFs also contain hidden labels for screen readers that ordinary PDF converters copy into the table as extra text. StatementEasy ignores those labels, joins the payee, the type code and the reference into one description, and gives you Date, Description, Money in, Money out and Balance.
Getting your statement from Lloyds
- In the Lloyds app, open the account. Tap the three-dot menu at the top.
- Choose “Download or print statement”. Pick the statement period you need.
- Save the PDF. Keep the file as downloaded; do not print it and scan it back.
- Or use Internet Banking on a computer. Open the account, choose Statement options and download the statements you need.
Lloyds can also post a paper copy, which takes up to 10 working days — the PDF is quicker and converts more accurately. Business customers can download statements from the Download/Export option in business internet banking.
What the Lloyds transaction codes mean
The Type code stays in the description, so a text filter in Excel (“contains DD”) lists every payment of one kind. The most common codes:
| Code | Meaning | Usually |
|---|---|---|
| DEB | Debit card payment | Money out |
| DD | Direct Debit | Money out |
| SO | Standing order | Money out |
| FPO | Faster Payment out | Money out |
| FPI | Faster Payment in | Money in |
| BGC | Bank Giro Credit (salary, benefits, transfers in) | Money in |
| CPT | Cash machine withdrawal | Money out |
| TFR | Transfer between accounts | Either |
| CHG | Bank charge | Money out |
Which column an amount lands in comes from the Money In and Money Out columns of the statement, not from the code, so unusual codes are handled correctly too.
Checks that catch mistakes
Each row is checked against the balance Lloyds prints after it, and the totals are compared with the Money In and Money Out summary at the top of the statement. If you drop several statements, the closing balance of one month is compared with the opening balance of the next, so a missing month shows up as well.
Budgeting with a year of Lloyds transactions
Filter the DD and SO rows and you have every direct debit and standing order in one list. The Recurring sheet goes further: it finds payments to the same payee at a regular interval, with the typical amount and the next expected date, so forgotten subscriptions are easy to spot. The Monthly sheet totals money in and out for each month, ready for a chart.

Questions
Does it work with Halifax or Bank of Scotland?
They belong to the same group and their statements look similar, but we only list banks we have tested ourselves. Try your statement: the balance check tells you straight away whether every row was read.
Can I leave columns out of my export?
Yes. Under “Adjust the table” you can hide a column or change what it holds before downloading.
Why did my description get longer than in the app?
The app shows a short name; the statement adds the payment type and the reference. They are joined so you can search by any of them.
Is my statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server and deleted after reading. A statement we still cannot read is kept encrypted for up to 14 days so we can add support for it.
Is StatementEasy made by Lloyds Bank?
No. StatementEasy is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Lloyds Bank.
