A GTBank statement of account opens with an account summary — opening balance, total debits, total credits and closing balance — followed by a table with the transaction date, a reference, the value date, debits, credits, the balance and a remarks column with the narration. Copying it into Excel splits the remarks over several rows and leaves the amounts as text. StatementEasy rebuilds it as one row per transaction with numbers you can add up.
Three ways to get a GTBank statement
| Where | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| GTWorld app | A statement request sent to your registered email, or to an embassy | Quick statements for recent months |
| Internet Banking | A PDF statement you can download; an Excel version is also offered | Longer periods and business accounts |
| Email request | A statement for up to the last six months, sent to your registered email | When you cannot sign in |
Whatever the channel, keep the PDF exactly as you received it. If GTBank gave you an Excel file, it opens here too and gets the same clean columns. For help, GTBank’s customer service is reachable at [email protected].
Requesting it in the GTWorld app
- Open GTWorld and sign in. Choose the account.
- Find the account statement option. It is among the account services.
- Choose the period and where to send it. Your own email for yourself, or the embassy option when a consulate needs it directly.
- Download the PDF from your email. Drop it here to convert it.
Checked against the account summary
Because the summary prints the total debits and total credits, StatementEasy can check the statement twice: every row against the balance column, and the sum of all rows against the summary totals. A missing transaction on page 7 of a twelve-month statement is caught immediately.
Making sense of a year of GTBank transactions
Twelve months of a busy account can mean thousands of lines. In the spreadsheet you can:
- sort by amount to find the largest payments and receipts;
- use the Monthly sheet to see inflow, outflow and closing balance month by month — what a visa officer or lender looks at first;
- let the Recurring sheet find salary, rent, school fees and subscriptions paid at a regular interval;
- export to CSV, QBO or Xero for your business books.

Questions
Can I use the converted Excel file for my visa application?
Consulates want GTBank’s own statement, usually sent by the bank or stamped. Use the spreadsheet to check your figures before you apply, not as a replacement.
Does it work with GTBank statements from outside Nigeria?
The tested layout is the Nigerian statement of account. GTCO subsidiaries in other countries may use a different layout; the balance check tells you whether yours was read completely.
My GTBank statement covers twelve months in one PDF. Is that fine?
Yes. Long statements are read as one list. Large files take a little longer, but they are still read on your device first.
Is my statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server and deleted after reading. A statement we still cannot read is kept encrypted for up to 14 days so we can add support for it.
Is StatementEasy made by GTBank?
No. StatementEasy is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTCO).
