Absa statements list Date, Transaction Description, Charge, Debit Amount, Credit Amount and Balance, starting from Bal Brought Forward. Dates look like 5/03/2025 and amounts use a space between thousands. Descriptions are short codes followed by the counterparty: Acb Credit, Digital Payment Dt, Card Purchase. StatementEasy keeps the Charge column out of the totals, reads the amounts as numbers and checks every balance.

What the Absa descriptions mean
Acb Credit is a payment received through the Automated Clearing Bureau — often a salary. Digital Payment Dt and Digital Transf Cr are payments sent and received in the app. Card Purchase is a card payment. The Categories sheet uses those words to group your transactions.
For SARS and your accountant
Convert March to February, the South African tax year, and export CSV for your accountant or Xero CSV for your books.
Absa statements with many pages
Absa statements for a busy cheque account can run to many pages. Every page is read and the balance is followed across page breaks, so the check covers the whole month.

Is the Charge column added to my spending?
No. It is kept out of the transaction amounts; bank charges that are debited appear as their own rows.
Does it work with Absa business statements?
Business statements with Debit Amount, Credit Amount and Balance are read the same way; the balance check confirms the result.
Is my statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first. Only if it cannot is the file read on our server, and deleted after reading.
