Spanish banks tested on their statement layouts
Most Spanish statements put debits and credits in one signed Importe column, written -1.234,56, with a balance after every movement. StatementEasy splits money in and out, keeps the value date and checks every row against the printed balance.
Banks
Eight Spanish banks are tested on their statement layouts: Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank, Banco Sabadell, ING, as well as Bankinter, Unicaja and Openbank. Others are read by the generic reader. If yours is not, tell us the bank.
Bank by bank
- Santander — operation and value dates, signed amount.
- BBVA — F. Oper. and F. Valor.
- CaixaBank — the value date after the description.
- Banco Sabadell — separate Cargo and Abono columns.
- ING — Importe (€) and Saldo (€).
Spanish formats, read correctly

What Spanish statements are used for
Tax returns, mortgage and rental applications, and household budgets.
IBAN, Bizum and SEPA direct debits
Spanish statements carry the account IBAN in the header and concepts such as BIZUM ENVIADO, RECIBO or COMPRA TARJ., which the sheet keeps whole. SEPA direct debits for electricity, water, mobile and insurance come back every month, and the Recurring sheet groups them with their usual amount.
