UK banks tested on real statements
UK statements print a running balance after each transaction and short payment codes — DD for direct debit, SO for standing order, FPI and FPO for Faster Payments, BGC for credits — often with the payee and the reference on separate lines. StatementEasy joins each transaction back into one row, keeps the codes in the description so you can filter on them, and checks every row against the balance.
Banks
Barclays and Lloyds Bank are tested on real statements. Statements from HSBC, NatWest, Santander, Nationwide, Halifax, TSB, Metro Bank, Monzo, Starling, Revolut and others are read by the generic reader; the balance check shows whether every line was read. If yours is not, tell us the bank.
What UK statements are used for
- Self Assessment — a tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April; convert those twelve months, group income and expenses with the Categories sheet and give your accountant a spreadsheet.
- Making Tax Digital — software such as Xero and QuickBooks imports the Xero CSV or QBO file for months the bank feed does not cover.
- Mortgages — lenders usually ask for three months; see what they check.
- Renting — letting agents ask for recent statements to confirm income; the Insights tab summarises it.
- Budgeting — filter DD and SO rows, or use the Recurring sheet, to see every regular payment.
Formats
Dates are read day/month and never confused with the US order; amounts in pounds and pence are read as numbers. Download Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX, QIF or Xero CSV, with dates as DD/MM/YYYY or ISO.

Does it work with Monzo or Starling statements?
They are read by the generic reader. Try yours — the balance check tells you right away whether every transaction was found.
Can I convert a credit card statement (Barclaycard, Amex UK)?
Yes, with the credit card converter.
Is my statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server and deleted after reading. A statement we still cannot read is kept encrypted for up to 14 days so we can add support for it.
