US banks tested on real statements
US statements usually split the month into sections — deposits and additions, withdrawals, checks paid, fees — print dates as MM/DD without the year, and list checks two or three to a line. StatementEasy reads every section into one list in date order, gives each check its own row, takes the year from the statement period and checks the totals against the beginning and ending balance.
Banks
Chase and Bank of America are tested on real statements. Statements from Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, U.S. Bank, PNC, Truist, TD Bank, credit unions and online banks are read by the generic reader; the balance check shows whether every line was read. If yours is not, tell us the bank.
What US statements are used for
- Taxes — a year of statements combined, filtered by payee or category, for deductible expenses or Schedule C income.
- QuickBooks — import months the bank feed missed with a QBO (Web Connect) file; see how.
- Mortgages and loans — lenders ask for two to three months; see what they check.
- Budgeting — the Recurring sheet finds every subscription; see how.
Formats
Dates are read month/day and exported as MM/DD/YYYY by default. Download Excel, CSV, QBO, QFX for Quicken, OFX, QIF, IIF or Xero CSV.
Questions
Can I convert a credit card statement?
Yes, with the credit card converter.
Does it read check images?
Check images are pictures. Checks are read from the checks table, with their number, date and amount.
Is my statement uploaded?
Your browser reads the PDF first, on your device. Only if it cannot read it is the file read on our server and deleted after reading. A statement we still cannot read is kept encrypted for up to 14 days so we can add support for it.
