Uruguayan banks tested on their statement layouts
Uruguay’s banking is led by the state-owned BROU, with private banks such as Santander, Itaú, BBVA and Scotiabank. Statements are asked for when you rent with a guarantee, apply for residency or file your IRPF return.
StatementEasy turns each PDF into Excel, CSV or OFX, reads amounts like 12.345,67 exactly and checks every balance.
Banks
Detailed pages: BROU, Itaú Uruguay, Santander Uruguay, BBVA Uruguay, Scotiabank Uruguay, Banco Hipotecario del Uruguay.
Six layouts
BROU prints Débito and Crédito; Itaú a Referencia; Santander one signed Importe; BBVA a value date; Scotiabank Spanish month names; BHU Retiros and Depósitos.
For residency and rentals
Proof of income for Uruguayan residency or a rental guarantee is easier with a clear monthly summary from your statements.
Pesos and dollars
Convert each statement on its own; amounts with $ or U$S lose the sign and keep every digit.
Salaries paid into accounts
Since Uruguay’s financial inclusion law, most salaries and pensions are paid into a bank account, so your statement is usually the full record of your income; the Monthly sheet summarises it.
Abitab and Redpagos
Bills paid and deposits made at Abitab or Redpagos appear with their own name in the description; filter for them to total what went through those networks.
Statement words
| On the statement | What it means |
|---|---|
| Saldo anterior | Opening balance |
| Débito / Retiro | Money out |
| Crédito / Depósito | Money in |
| Importe | Signed amount |
| U$S | US dollars |
Aguinaldo and VAT refunds
The aguinaldo arrives in June and December, and VAT refunds on debit purchases come on their own line; a year of statements shows both.
